1 Nephi 11: 24 – 36
Because of His love of us God sent His Son. Christ ministered tot he people giving them the word of God. Nephi saw that the iron rod is the word of God that leads to eternal life. It leads to the symbol of His love.
Christ’s sacrifice was proof of His love like the tree of life is a symbol. Eternal life is to be had by partaking of the fruit of the tree of life or, in other words, by applying the Atonement of Christ to our lives. Christ’s ministry is like a construction worker building the rod that leads to the tree of life. Not only does he build the rod but he holds on to it and follows it. He was baptized just as all of us must be. He received the Holy Ghost as we must. Christ had His apostles to help him in His work and he went about serving the people around Him.
The people judged Christ and after they all die He will judge mankind. The world fought against his apostles after His death, just like the great and spacious building pointing their fingers and mocking those at the tree of life. All who fight against God and His work will fall just like the great building fell as Nephi watched.
