I have learned that sacrifice of something teaches us to really appreciate that and cherish it. Somehow obedience is able to give us a better understanding of the laws.
The gospel shows us the plan. It gives us hope for our lives and direction. Consecration is the full giving of our blessings, our lives, our desires and our strength to the Lord. Interestingly this allows us to draw upon the fullness of His power as we need it. Our strength added to the Saviors strength does not add noticeably to His strength, but the smallest portion of His power dwarfs all that we can give. We learn to give all to receive some and our faith tells us that the some is greater than our all.
Prayer is (or should be) the act of twisting our will to come into line with God’s will.
Positive pride is marked by arrogance for what I am. Negative pride is marked by depression for what I am not. Pride is a preoccupation of looking at yourself. To rid yourself of pride you must look outside yourself. Preferably to God.
