Mosiah 29:14

As Mosiah describes what he has attempted to do as king we get a good picture of what is required to be a good king. Being a good king is not about being the final authority in the land, it is about recognizing and answering to a higher authority. it is about teaching the people concerning the authority which both you and they answer to. Mosiah expended all his efforts to teach the people about God and to establish peace in the land. When people committed iniquity Mosiah punished them not “according to my law” but rather according to their crime and “the law given to us by our fathers” which ultimately came from God.
