Alma 1:24
As people in the church began to grow prideful, some withdrew from the church. They probably felt that the church had nothing to offer them and, because of their pride, they did not heed any prompting to give service to their fellow saints. Others of the church who grew prideful had their names blotted out from the records of the church because of transgression because they were not willing to repent and submit to the commandments of God. By contrast, those who remained faithful bore with patience the afflictions of persecution and of losing friends to the sin of pride.
