With Amlici inciting them to anger against all those who opposed him, the followers of Amlici gathered together and consecrated Amlici to be their king. After being consecrated as their king, Amlici commanded his people to take up arms against the rest of the Nephites to make them subject to his rule. If he had not desired to destroy the church, he might have just left peacefully and established his own kingdom like the south attempted to do in the Civil War. A better response would be that of the Democrats after the Presidential Election of 2000, they grumbled for years afterward about being robbed but they made no talk of succession.
