The people who followed Amlici were called Amlicites, having taken his name upon themselves. The Nephites were aware of the intentions of the Amlicites to bring them into subjection by force therefore they armed themselves with weapons of war of every kind both long range, bows and slings, and short range, swords and scimitars. They also appointed leaders for their army with captains and higher captains so that they would be organized. Thus they did prepare themselves against the time when the Amlicites would come to war against them to bring them into subjection.
