The men that Alma sent to watch the Amlicites returned with much haste the next morning with news that was very disappointing and probably quite surprising; the Amlicites had found an army of Lamanites and joined them to attack the Nephites in another part of the land. This is a fairly regular tactic of the enemies of righteousness to form any alliance or join an coalition, no matter how disparate, if they believe that they can win by combining their forces in that way. We cannot say, “Don’t worry about that, they have nothing in common,” because all they need is a common desire to win (or a common enemyadd by Laura).
