Alma 4:5-6
Having humbled themselves and recognized their wickedness and the judgements of God upon them, the Nephites, and especially the people of the church of God, began to accomplish great things as they promoted righteousness and more earnestly sought to establish the church of God throughout the land. In the seventh year of the reign of the judges, they had an average of nearly ten people each day who joined the church. That year they continued to have peace, but the next year they already began to be lifted up in pride again and began to wear costly apparel. Here we see that pride in riches is destructive even if the riches are gained honestly as these people had become rich through their industry rather than cunning.
