Alma 5:10-11
Knowing that these ancestors were in a state of spiritual darkness and encircled about by he bands of death and hell to be delivered to be delivered to the devil and also knowing that they were delivered from that state and saved, Alma’s question becomes crucial for all who desire to be saved. “On what conditions are they saved? On what grounds do they have a hope for salvation?” For Alma the Elder it was because he believed the words of the prophet Abinadi when Abinadi spoke the word of God unto him. When the light came and Alma accepted it, he then had grounds to hope for salvation.
