Alma 27 – 29
It’s interesting to see the hatred of the Amalekites, always attacking someone. They went after the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi and decided that the target was too soft because they would not fight back (and because they were losing too many followers as a result) so they attacked the Nephites. They decided, after stinging defeats (besides Ammonihah) that the Nephites presented too hard a target so they decided to attack the soft target again, better to lose the followers than to lose their own lives. The other thing that I find interesting is the interchange between Ammon and the king regarding living with the Nephites. The converted Lamanites agree to go only if the Lord approves and Ammon tries to convince them to go merely because he can guarantee that they will not become slaves. They are steadfast in waiting to obtain the approval of the Lord, which they do obtain.
