It is natural to think that Pahoran was initially upset by the accusations of Moroni, but I am convinced that his initial reaction was one of relief as the words of Moroni assured him that there were still those who would valiantly strive to preserve the liberty of the people even to the point of making such pointed accusations against a friend. Upon receiving the words of Moroni he may have thought, “Yes, Moroni would know how to solve this. Let him come down and rescue us from these king-men.”
