I never realized that the destruction of the believers was the first real challenge that Nephi faced after his father left the land. He must have felt very blessed that the majority of the people accepted the truth after the sign was given. On the other hand, it must have been highly discouraging to see the people begin defecting to the Gadiantons in large numbers after so few years.
