Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kipur

We, as Ephriam, must learn and appreciate what Judah has to offer.

Feast of Tabernacles also known as Sukkot

Rosh Hashanah

The Gold Shofar is to sound longer than the two silver trumpets beside it. (one on each side)

The shofar represents:

  • The voice of God
  • The receiving of the law at Sinai
  • the horn of he ram in the thicket that was used in place of Isaac for sacrifice
  • the horns that brought down the walls of Jerico
  • the coming of Christ
  • Christ, the horn of God’s salvation

Rosh Hashanah opened a 10 day period of repentance leading to Yom Kippur (the day of Atonement)
We are in the ten day period ever since Joseph received the plates.

3 Books were opened
  • The book of life
For those who were righteous
  • The book of {condemnation}
For those who are condemned
  • The book of {deferment}
for those who’s cases will be decided after the period of repentance.

Rosh Hashanah events
  • Creation of Adam (by tradition)
  • Ezra reading the law in the streets of Jerusalem to those who were returned from Babylon
  • Coming forth of the book of Mormon
  • Harvest to preceed the millenuim (our day of harvest)

Yom Kippur

The priest withdraws from the world one week in advance to live in the temple and prepare himself for the Day of Atonement. On that day the high priest must perform all the priestly duties.

When he went to the Holy of Holies he would remove his glorious priestly robes and wear only the simplest robes.

“When thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin.”
