Composting does not smell – if it smells it’s rotting, not composting.
You need to turn the compost if it is smelling.
- Make a pile
- Layer it
- Use a variety of materials
- chop into small pieces to speed the process
- turn weekly to aerate
- keep it moist but not soggy
- at least 3 feet cubed – not over 4 feet cubed
- Don’t include animal products (except manure from herbivores or omnivores if you desire)
Mix – Mash – Moisten – Move
Worms can be helpful to the process of composting.
It takes at least 8 weeks in Utah’s climate
Store seeds in a cool, dry place.
