Jacob 1 – 2
I wonder how soon after Nephi’s death Jacob had to give this sermon. I also realize some interesting implications of the “after ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to do good – to clothe the naked, and to feed the hungry, and to liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted.” In their agrarian society they would not seek for gold if their desire for riches were to do good as outlined – they would seek for rich harvests so that they could give to those in need. In our society we would seek for money more than they would, but our choice of the kind of riches to seek and means to use in seeking would still be affected by our purpose to do good.
