Sometimes I am amazed at how little Chemish seems to have understood about the purpose and importance of the plates. I have to be reminded that he lived in a time of great wickedness and that he was faithful in preserving the record. Perhaps it is too easy to expect to much of him merely because he is a direct descendant of Jacob.
