When Alma tells the people that the Good Shepherd is calling them with His own name, he is reminding them of the time under king Benjamin when they were told that the Lord was giving them a new name, even His name. I can just hear the love of the invitation to repent. I think Alma was struggling to find the balance between stressing the urgency of the call and not making it seem harsh.
