Alma 20
If Lamoni’s father had seen Ammon in his court he would have felt compelled to kill the Nephite who was influencing his son. He also would have had more men at his disposal to bring it about. Had the Lord allowed Ammon to go there he would still have saved Ammon, but he would not been as likely to touch the kings heart. Besides, Aaron and his brethren would have been left in prison, and could have been in greater peril after Ammon went to the high king. Ammon’s request that Lamoni be free to rule his own kingdom touched the heart of Lamoni’s father because ti demonstrated that Ammon was not seeking for his own benefit.
