I wonder if Aaron and his brethren expected that their work would be easier among former Nephites (The Amalekites and Amulonites)? If so they may have imagined terrible things happening to Ammon, worse than what they were bearing. They would have been very surprised to see Ammon coming to their rescue if that was the case.
