Part of the reason that Amalikiah was able to gather such a large army was that he had convinced the Lamanites that they would be equal to the Nephites once they had armor. He also convinced them that he cared for them enough to share the latest in protective apparel so that they would not be so easily slaughtered by the Nephites.
I had never noticed before that Corianton was listed among those who were preaching the word and fortifying the church among the Nephites. I knew that later he kept the record briefly, but I did not realize that he was named as a leader in the church so soon after his sinful conduct among the Zoramites.
