D&C 5
I had never realized that Martin Harris was pushing for a further witness after losing the 116 pages and before knowing of the prophecy concerning 3 witnesses. Here Joseph is warned not to heed his continuing requests, but to promise him that he will receive a greater witness than he is asking if he will humble himself and be patient – otherwise Joseph is to cease work for a time. It seems that Joseph did cease work until Oliver Cowdery arrived so maybe Martin did not repent very quickly. The more I learn the more interesting Martin Harris becomes. His human frailties seem more apparent than many other men who held such lofty positions and dies faithful.
