Babylon and the tares among the wheat do not represent devil worship and the promotion of evil so much as they represent secularism which is manifest in publicly abandoning any spiritual or religious pretext in our lives. This relying upon the arm of flesh and the wisdom of man is more dangerous – because it is less obvious – than a frontal assault against morality. Once secularism has corroded the moral underpinnings of a society then the frontal assault can begin with a much higher probability of success. We are seeing the frontal assault begin as secularism has been doing its work for decades.
