The issue of Amlici being made king feels like the issue of gay marriage our nation is wrestling with now. Those who favor it will use any method they can, through legislation or force. Legislation has not favored them so they have turned to the use of judicial force to tilt the legislative field in their favor. Now the nation (specifically the people of California right now) must fight an uphill battle to tie the hands of judges on this matter through legislation. In fact our current position might be comparable tot he second wave of battle where the Nephites were fighting the strongest Amlicites in combination with the Lamanites. We can only win such a battle if we as apeople qualify ourselves to receive strength form the Lord.
I am confident here that Amlici made his attempt because he believed that the Nephites would not have the organization to effectively oppose him without a king to lead them.
