Alma 8
Ammonihah was like Gideon, in that they were both established during the years that Alma was chief judge. One had established themselves with a determination to be righteous and thus needed little to be reclaimed by Alma, the other had established themselves to be independent of the prudish rule of the society of Zerahemla which they felt to be too controlled by the church at the time.
One of the reasons that Alma returned so speedily was the warning that the people of Ammonihah were studying to destroy the liberty of the Nephites. Alma had a great love for the liberty of the people because of his understanding of agency and also from his perspective gained while he was chief judge.
Amulek was not among the crowd that threw Alma out on his first visit because they knew and proclaimed the identity of Alma, but Amulek did not know who he was except for what he learned from the vision he had been given.
