Alma 19
It is interesting to read the diverse views expressed by the people of Lamoni when they came upon the king and his servants lying as if they were deal along with Ammon, the Nephite. Some thought Ammon was the Great Spirit – indicating that they held a real belief in the Great Spirit. Some blamed the presence of a Nephite for this apparent problem while others blamed the conduct of their king (probably having relatives among those who had been killed of his servants). The brother of the dead leader of the marauders of Sebus just wanted to ill Ammon (who was protected even while unconscious). Some people thought that Ammon was sent to torment them by the Nephites – showing that they were aware of the great power among the Nephites, but did not equate it with anything like a great spirit. Some came closes to the truth by believing that Ammon was sent by the Great Spirit and that the Great Spirit was responsible for the great power that the Nephites had over the Lamaintes in battle.
By now Ammon has been among them for 6 days and Lamoni would be 3 days late to attend the feast of his father.
