Alma 28 – 29
Alma reports that after a great war with the Lamanites in the 15th year the people had great reason for sorrow, but with the addition of the people of Ammon they had great reason to rejoice in so many people being brought to a knowledge of the Lord. It is in that context that he wished to have the voice of an angel so that he might bring more joy into the world by declaring the gospel more widely and thus drown the reasons for sorrow.

In many ways I feel like Alma, except that when he says that “I know that which the Lord hath commanded me” I do not feel that I really understand the direction that the Lord has for me. I have some inklings, but no real direction.
