Helaman 10
The things which the lord had showed Nephi was more than the murder of the Chief Judge – throughout the trial process Nephi was being shown some truths regarding the Nephites etc. by the Spirit which he was still pondering upon as the people dispersed into their separate groups around him. I wonder if being put on trial was a trial for Nephi. Perhaps it was, or perhaps he already knew the Lord well enough to not be shaken. Certainly by the end when the Lord tells him that he has the sealing power over all things sealed upon him he had just such trust in his Lord. After that, Nephi would have the power to do something more than preach in his efforts to help the people to be righteous. He also knew that the people were under the threat of destruction so he need not worry about the choice to declare a famine etc. It’s interesting to notice how they reacted to his invitation to repent – they sought to cast him into prison, when that failed they began to fight amongst themselves. It took very little to bring them to bloodshed.
