Ether 3
Part of our knowledge of Christ for an apostolic witness must be of His greatness and our comparative nothingness. That is part of humbling ourselves to the dust. The beauty of it is that with a witness of His divinity and His love for us, we can feel unworthy and yet not feel ashamed before Him when we have repented of our sins because of the love that He has for us. We are left with gratitude for the magnitude of His sacrifice and proper perspective of the long road before us to emulate Him and yet be freed from guilt because He has paid the price – giving us hope in Christ.

It has been speculated that the brother of Jared asked for the stones to be enlightened based on the experience of Noah in the flood. Even if that is the case, did the Lord touch stones with His finger for Noah, or did He simply give Noah stones which would shine? The faith here is incredible that he would ask for something so specific rather than simply asking, “Lord, wilt thou make these stones to shine in darkness that we may have light?”

I had heard that all the stones the Lord touched were seer stones, but it sounds like the seer stones were two separate stones that were given to the brother of Jared in addition to the 16 he had brought to the Lord. I wonder if they are the same seer stones that were had by Mosiah and Joseph Smith.
