Moses 1
Moses’ vision was not unlike Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove. It was also like the experiences of John the revelator, the brother of Jared, and Nephi who recorded some part of their visions as well as Adam, Enoch, and Abraham who we are told of, but have no record of, their theophanies. I’m sure there are others as well. The difference between this and the Sacred Grove is that Satan came before the Lord in the Sacred Grove in an effort to prevent the experience rather than after an initial visit in an effort to twist it. In both cases he was banished by their calling upon God.
In movies like the Ten Commandments Moses is depicted as receiving his calling at the burning bush as if it came out of nowhere. The truth is that he had been actively preparing himself spiritually for years before that even if he did not feel qualified to go to the court of Pharoh.
I want to be able to say with the same conviction as Moses “I am a son of God, in similitude of His Only Begotten; and where is thy glory, that I should worship thee?” (Speaking of course of anything other than a member of the Godhead.)
