1 Nephi 13
When the United States was formed the Lord was protecting the new nation that no other nation could overcome it in battle. We can have the same protection today so long as we as a nation turn to the Lord for our support and acknowledge Him. That does not require that all must be members of the restored church, but we cannot allow our nation to become agnostic if we are to receive the protection of the Lord. It sounds like the great and abominable church was formed when the Romans officially sanctioned the church – when they did so they twisted it and attracted those who cared nothing for truth and everything for power and praise of the world.
