2 Nephi 11 – 12
I wonder why Nephi spent so much time writing Isaiah if Jacob said many more things unto the people. Maybe it’s just me wishing to hear more from Jacob because I already have a copy of Isaiah while the Book or Mormon from the plates of Nephi is my only source for the words of Jacob.

In the Millenium when “nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore” the people of the earth will lose the capacity to engage in some of the kinds of warfare that have been used in our modern wars. When the last battle comes at the time that Satan is loosed again it will be a very different kind of warfare than we now have. In fact, I wonder if “[beating] their swords into plow-shares and their spears into pruning-hooks” might include repurposing their nuclear weapons into energy sources. I also wonder if the beginning of world peace may be a reaction of fear of the power displayed by the Savior when He rescues the Children of Israel at his coming until the gospel has again disseminated throughout the world and the nations grow to know and respect Him rather than fear and misunderstand Him.
