2 Nephi 19 – 20
I had always thought that the phrase “the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of Hosts.” was redundant, that the Lord was “him that smiteth them.” I realize now that what it means is they would not choose. They would not choose the king of Assyria when he oppressed them but neither would they return and wait upon the Lord in spirit and in truth. When a remnant of the House of Jacob shall return they will finally wait upon the Lord in truth and He shall fight their battles for them.
