Jacob 1
Nephi had been a strong and beloved leader – even after he turned over the reins of civil authority to another the people probably still revered him. I wonder if it is normal for the people to begin to be rebellious and selfish in some degree when such a leader is no longer around. That might explain their becoming wicked, or it may be that they began to be wicked as they began to be more securely established in the land.
As a father I am in the same position as Jacob with regard to my family – taking upon myself the responsibility, answering their sins upon my head if I do not teach them the things of God with all diligence.
