Jacob 2
I wonder if someone besides Jacob actually kept the record of these words (it starts in the third person referring to Jacob). It may be that he engraved them from a transcript kept by someone else on the day he spoke to the people, or it may be that he had a scribe or church historian – perhaps even Enos engraving part of the record in preparation for the time when he would be expected to keep it.

Some have suggested that the practice of plural marriage, being an eternal principle, will be once again authorized on the earth at some point. I think they are mistaken in such thinking. While I would not pretend to tie the hands of the Lord in this or any matter I think it is more accurate to say that the Lord always has the authority to authorize the practice, but that we have no evidence that He will authorize it again on the earth. The fact that it is an eternal principle only means that He can, and that in those cases where the participants were righteous the plural marriages will be sealed so that they remain in force in the eternities.
