Benjamin had been working among the people to establish righteousness for many years with help of other holy men. I would bet that among their work they had been teaching of Christ and that the people had begun to ask when He would come – thus the angel came to answer that question with the happy news that he would come relatively soon. Perhaps when Mosiah sent the proclamation the people came hoping to hear more on the subject.
