Alma 23 – 24
I wonder why Ammon stayed among the people in the land of Ishmael while all his brethren went from land to land. Is it possible that Ishmael was among the largest subdivisions of the Lamanite kingdom controlled by Lamoni’s father? This great success among the Lamanites came partially because the Lamanites has been generations without hearing the gospel message in any form – this meant that those in each generation that would hunger for it (as happens in virtually any generation of all people) had no chance to fill their hunger so the hunger had grown for years. When the gospel finally came among them there were many who had that hunger to believe and be converted.
