General Conference: Taking It Personally

Elder Corbridge quote “Don’t think you can’t.” (Oct. 2008)

If it’s on the prophets mind it’s important.

President Monson always mentions Duty.
How many times have I heard him say “Do your duty, that is best, leave unto the Lord the rest.”

We have two things that motivate us to do something: Love and Duty. Which comes first? We can do something out of duty until we begin to love it. Sometimes we do things because we love them before we consider our duty to do them. Love of something can come and go, but the duty to do certain things is constant. We feel best when we do those things out of love, but we will be better ans stronger if we will continue to do them willingly and cheerfully even when we feel only the duty and not the softening, comforting love of that duty.
