It’s funny that the Nephites would reckon their time based on the sign of the Savior’s birth when they refuse to recognize the signs that they have seen (including the meaning of that one). If the drug cartels do become so strong that we are openly at war with them we may well see the United States and Mexico unite politically – suddenly there would be 81 states. Before that could happen the cartels would have to operate openly within the United States – not just selling their drugs but openly murdering people an defying any rule of law, like they have done in various parts of Mexico already. Short of that the people of the United States would not accept the addition of the Mexican states.
