Genesis 7
Moses was told to take 7 pairs of birds “to keep seed alive on the face of the earth.” I wonder if that is to keep enough birds to have sufficient offspring to overcome high death rates or if he is saying that more birds were needed for purposes of seed distribution. Noah was given 7 days warning before the coming of the rain.

I just realized that one possibility for the earth’s configuration prior to the flood was to have much of the water in the oceans in underground cisterns to water the land without rain. At the time of the flood the Lord could have killed many simply by having the crust above those cisterns fall raising their level over other parts of the land while killing any who were on those areas of crust – that would also completely change the face of the land.

According to this chapter the waters rose a little over 20 feet and covered all the mountains – that suggests a very flat terrain – at least over all those areas where people lived.
