2 Nephi 9
It is interesting to see Jacob talking about secret combinations because he lived before they existed among the Nephites and before the Nephites had a record of them among the Jaredites and Jacob had never lived among the people at Jerusalem. His knowledge of secret combinations is entirely verbal and impersonal.

Wo unto the rich and the learned for they shall be tempted to lean upon their riches or wisdom and forget their God. This reminds me now of Sheldon Killpack’s situation. He rose quickly at a young age (early 30’s) to be the state Senate majority leader only to fall within a year (or possibly two) due to abandoning the teachings of his church and drinking socially. I have no evidence that he did anything malicious or underhanded, but he was caught drinking and driving and in this state that is almost impossible to overcome without taking a real fall – hence his resignation. I think that he got into the social drinking because he began to trust in his own wisdom and the power of his position.

“Feast upon that which perisheth not neither can be corrupted” for if it cannot be corrupted then it cannot bring corruption into you.
