Alma 50 – 51
I had always acknowledged the innovations of armor and fortifications to be great accomplishments of Moroni but I don’t think I have given proper credit to the value of what he did to secure all their lands by driving out Lamanite squatters on their seashores. I wonder if they gave those Lamanites a chance to join them.

We are told here that Pahoran had to take an oath that he would judge righteously when he became the chief judge; I wonder of that continued after him with wicked judges of the future%u2014we certainly never hear of such oaths later. This reminds me of the oath of office that our civil authorities must take%u2014each swearing to uphold the constitution.

I wonder how many of the leading king-men had been followers of Amalickiah who did not escape with him to the Lamaites.
