Alma 62 – 63
It is interesting to realize that although they fought the fleeing Lamanites from the city of Nephihah the armies of Moroni did not lose a single soul.
I imagine that the prospect of abandoning war was very attractive for those Lamanites who had been captured. By joining the people of Ammon they were promised the protection of the Nephite army in exchange for raising all kinds of food according to their ability. Note that those who chose this anti-combat lifestyle were still actively supporting the defense of Nephite liberty which is a far cry from what the king-men had done in undermining the war effort%u2014probably under claims of pacifism.
