Helaman 1 – 2
After the change of leadership with the passing of Pahoran and Moroni and Heleman there was a fundamental shift among the people. Moronihah was righteous as far as we can tell but not quite as commanding a warrior as his father had been. Pahoran II was murdered, Paanci was a traitor, and Pacumeni was killed by Lamanites leaving Helaman II to serve as Chief Judge and not solely as the leader of the church. The people seem to enter a period where they never seem to really deal with their internal problems in a lasting way after this. All the solutions seem to have a very short shelf life. We suffer the same problem today.
