3 Nephi 11 – 12
As I read this description of the proper mode of baptism I began to wonder if this was where Joseph and Oliver began to ponder and ask the question about baptism themselves that led to the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. I am confident that it was not. Their question came much earlier in the record I am sure. I did realize however what it was like for them undertaking the project of translation. They were not simply translating the record. In the process of tra nslation they were learning the pure doctrine of Christ. Not just learning about baptims but leading how mindful the Lord is of all His children. Learning how carefully and completely he works on mankind to gather each of them. In other words, they were studying the book, not writing it. Not all the Nephites actually saw the Savior even by the end of his visit. All had been broken and softened who survived the destruction that accompanied His death such they they were all converted by the overwhelming testimony of the great many who did see Him.

In all His ministry, did Christ prophesy anything that did not directly relate to His own life and ministry? I don’t believe He did. It seems to me that all other prophecies, such as the fact that there would be a falling away, were given by His servants and He focused on being the Christ and teaching the doctrine of Christ and of repentance.
