Exodus 8 – 9
When the magicians of Pharaoh copied Moses to demonstrate their power they only added to the plague. They were able to make snakes and turn water to blood and bring forth frogs but they could not create lice, showing that their “power” was limited. I had not realized that the Lord did according to the word of Moses as requested by Pharaoh by removing the frogs overnight. It sounds like the people coming to Nephi begging him to petition the Lord to stop the famine. From the sound of this the first plagues were experienced by all but the plague of flies didnot come in the land of Goshen where the Israelites lived so that the Lord showed favor to His people.

It is interesting the Pharaoh and Egypt became exceedingly rich both in treasure and in goods when Pharaoh treated Joseph well and hearkened to his word. When Pharaoh hardened his heart against Moses and treated the children of Israel with contempt they became impoverished with the loss of all their cattle, their firstborn sons, those that did not heed Moses’ warning about the hail, the treasure they gave to the Israelites when they did go, and their chariots when they tried to bring them back.
