Exodus 17 – 18
Amalek seems to have earned more displeasure from the Lord than others of the inhabitants of the land. I wonder if it was because he was first to attack the people of Israel or perhaps because he proactively left his place of residence to do so without them entering his lands. I love he example provided by Moses and Jethro of how even the prophet can turn to a man he respected and who had been his mentor prior to his calling and could receive counsel from him even after his calling. I notice the same thing with President Taylor as he leans upon and in some ways looks up to men whom he respected even before he became Stake President. He listens to them and learns from them even though many have never held the mantle that he now bears.
