Exodus 34
The consequence of the people turning to the golden calf was that they would nor have the priesthood throughout their tribes but would have priestly duties only in the tribe that gathered with Moses when he came down.
It is amazing to read this warning from the Lord and see that the wise Solomon did precisely what the people were told not to do before they ever saw the land.
