Interesting, if people were too poor to afford a sheep for a trespass offering they had the option to use two turtledoves instead – one as a sin offering to be offered first and the second as a burnt offering to be offered second. If that offering was too expensive then they could simply offer one tenth of an ephah of flour as a sin offering which the priest uses on handf for the offeringand gets to keep the remainder of the flour (unscrupulous priests might try to take small handfuls). Dishonest priests would also be motivated to invent new statutes with Wichita to charge people for trespass offerings so that they could keep the bulk of the proceeds from those offerings.
