Deuteronomy 3
I get the impression that one of the reasons Moses was not allowed to go into the promised land – besides the fact that he smite the rock for water when he had been told to speak to it – was that he agreed with the people in sending spies into the land, possibly contradicting the will of the Lord (that part I don’t know), thus he was required to bear the same punishment as all the people who feared because of the report of the people being strong in the land.
