Deuteronomy 16
The timing of the feast of tabernacles and the feast of weeks were both related to the harvest. The feast of weeks being seven weeks after the beginning of harvest and the feast of tabernacles being seven days after the end of harvest.
The commandment that judges shall not respect persons is an injunction against judges having their own agenda in judgement that would color their interpretation of the facts of the cases they heard – we need more of that in our day.
